Every full moon the “black saguaros of the night” gather to feast on the gravitational pull of the moon. It sends tidal waves through the asphalt and tsunamis over the concrete trails. We invite you to come, join us as we celebrate just one of life’s mystical creations. Email us for directions fullmoonbomb@rileyboards.com Hope to see you there.
July 21st
-Started out as any other big posse night would with the crew gathering at the secret rendezvous, getting the shit together. We then rolled out, 2 SUV’s deep, packed with fools droolin. First run down was chill, some mild crosswinds…you could tell something was coming. Second round was where it was at. As soon as we got to the drop off the winds shifted downward so we raised our sails and bombed moonlit trail (which was pretty dark because the moon was hiding in the clouds). Fast as diarrhea, straight outta control. Jizzoe had a minor braking error which resulted in a run-off to ugly roll to palm plant, which tore him up, but he soldiered back up and we all went back up for more…As soon as we ejected from the rides the first raindrops start falling. Figured we better get on it and then Bizzang! True desert monsoon pounding down on us. A couple of fools jumped in the rides and a couple of fools decided to ride. Bustin sick slides and bailing in the rain -straight Rileyin- All in all a great night, see you next month. -scales-
August 19th
The swells were huge. Winds blowing so hard downhill. One of, if not the, fastest nights ever on the McDowell Mountains. We could not have dreamed better riding conditions. Huge wall of clouds to the north with crazy lightning shows all night. Clouds in the sky, but the moon stayed free all night. Thanks to Cristo, Dizzan, Palmer, Tori, and Fisher for rolling out. A lot of fools missed out on an epic night, but hey the brothers were out of town, Matty O had a silly concert to go to, and he had to get up early to compete at the last wakeboard comp of the year. Antny was probably out playing with little honeys, and some otha suckas just didn’t show, no worries. But back to the goods. Out of control speeds, I just can’t explain it other than the full moon was on our side this night.(maybe making up for the rain last month) Got plenty of runs in thanks to T-Bird hauling our stanking asses up the mountain again and again. Everyone bailed out pretty early except Fisher. We decided we weren’t done and headed back up for more. There’s no way we could just let it end with the wind still pounding downhill. A couple of runs later we spotted some other cats bombing so we investigated. To our surprise it was a pack of sector 9 cats, laying on their backs…well one or two were on their feet. We caught up half way down and meet them all. Pretty cool fools for the most part. One broda had heard of the infamous astro turfed bullgfrog. We all skated out down tidal hill(second half of it anyway) and you know the two Riley boards were way out in front. You heard right… RILEY, what? Found a secret road that was pretty tough to get to, hidden at the base of a dark mountain. Easily the fastest road in these parts. Mark my words, there will be a race down that hill someday soon. Javelinas darting across the trails, scorpions in the streets, hawks peeping from a bird’s eye view, all in all incredible. Doubt there will be a night as fast and perfect as this for a long time. Thanks everybody, even you Sector 9 fools, it wouldn't have been the same without any of you. See you next month suckas… What up Kryz? -scales-
